About Istanbul and the most famous places in it.

Istanbul is one of the most beautiful cities around the world as it attracts millions of tourists every year. It is not only the most crowded city but also the economic, tourist, cultural, and historical center of the country.

It was founded by the Greeks in the seventh century BC in the name of Byzantium at the entrance to the Bosphorus, which separates the continents of Europe and Asia, and is distinguished by being the city belonging to two continents.

Istanbul, which the Turks have renamed, has a distinctive exciting historical heritage that makes it one of the major tourist destinations in the world, with more than 13 million foreign tourists annually.

There are many places to visit in Istanbul, due to its vast area.

In this article, you will find the most famous tourist areas in Istanbul;

The first of them is the Sulaymaniyah Mosque

located above the city on the top of the hill, through its balcony you can see the whole city, this mosque was built in the mid-sixteenth century by the order of Suleiman the Magnificent, who was buried with his wife Roxylana in his tomb. It is considered the largest active mosque in old Constantinople.

The Grand Bazaar or what is called the Egyptian Market

It is located meters away from the Suleymaniye Mosque, one of the areas that are most visited by tourists due to its popularity and the multiplicity of its stores. The most suitable place to buy pots, clothes, carpets, and other authentic Turkish products, or you can go to it to drink Turkish tea or coffee in one of the ancient coffeeshops in the bazaar.

Galata Tower

To find the origins of this amazing tower, you have to go back to the year 528, when it was built to allow the lighthouses to function. At that time, the 67-meter-high blackcurrant made it the tallest building in the capital of the Byzantine Empire. It is currently used as a lookout point that can be accessed by elevator and from which you can see the city in 360 degrees.

Topkapi Palace

One of Istanbul's most famous palaces, it is located between the Golden Horn and Marmara on the Bosphorus. It was the residence of the Turkish sultans until 1853, among the palaces that have an ancient history and are worth a visit.

Dolmabahce Palace

Newer than Topkapi, it was the residence of the sultans until 1923 when Ataturk founded the republic, which became his summer residence. When he died in 1938, it was converted into a museum, located on the Bosphorus coast, in the European sector of the city, which is the tallest building in Turkey.

Basilica Cistern

Underneath the city’s soil lies a whole labyrinth of cisterns from antiquity, built waiting to destroy the aquifers during one of the many attacks of the city and the shortage of Byzantine water supplies. Built-in 532 by order of Emperor Justinian.

Beyoglu district

The most luxurious and modern area in Istanbul, the best place to relax is in one of its many restaurants, alleys, and bars, and where there is also vibrant nightlife.

And certainly Istiklal Street or Taksim Square, known as the beating heart of Istanbul and also called Million Street, where about a million tourists pass through it every day.

Because Istanbul is not only in possession of precious stones, it is also a modern and cosmopolitan city with the best tourist services and has the best hotels in the world. Also, it is the best city for people who want to create real estate investments.
